The VII International Liszt Ferenc Competition (Hungary-Budapest) Malaysia Preliminary Round is open to all nationalities. Participants are required to present a photocopy of IC (Malaysian Only) or passport (for Non-Malaysian) for verification. The category of each participant is determined by the age just before the date of final round of the competition on 31st July 2024.
Participants may take part in live performance in Dominus Arts Venue, Kuala Lumpur or by online video submission for the Preliminary Round.
Individuals can participate in multiple entries, either at a higher level or its equivalent, featuring the same or different repertoire(s). Participants are required to present two copies of the music scores at the competition venue for the juries reference.
Participants are required to perform the music from memory and are not permitted to alter their repertoire after registering.
The jury reserves the rights to terminate a performance at any time of the competition. The jury's ruling is final, and no appeal or complaint will be entertained. The jury is not obliged to award all the prizes in a category If the performance of the participants is deemed to fall below expectations.
The organizer reserves the right to reject any participant who fails to meet the requirements or who violates the rules and regulations of the competition.
All registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Application is deemed invalid in case of incomplete registration form, non payment of registration fee or insufficient verification.
Participants may choose the same or different repertoire for the final round.
During the competition, NO flash photography, NO audio or video recording is permitted.
The organizer reserves the rights to publish photographs, videos, and recordings of any aspect of the competition for educational or promotional purposes.
During the live performance at Dominus Arts Venue in Kuala Lumpur, certificates of participation bearing the contestant(s) name will be distributed on the competition day. Conversely, certificates of achievement, which solely mention the contestant(s) name and the received award, will be delivered via E-Cert format to the registered email address or directly to the teacher/music school for group registrations. Should contestants request a hard copy version, a surcharge will be applicable.
For online video submissions, trophies will be dispatched using local postage services, subject to an additional surcharge. Certificate of participation and award received will be distributed in E-Cert format, and if contestants wish to receive a hard copy, a surcharge will be applicable.
Top winners, those who receive Gold and Silver awards, have the opportunity to participate in the Final Round of The VII International Liszt Ferenc Competition scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary, in July 2024. On the day of the Preliminary Round, recipients of the Gold and Silver awards will be presented with a Letter of Invitation to compete in the Final Round. Selected winners and award recipients are required to provide feedback regarding their decision to participate or not within a week after the preliminary round, specifically by May 18, 2024, which falls on a Saturday.
Participants who qualify for the Final Round can proceed to register under the Final Round categories and compete in Budapest, Hungary.
Online video submission is permitted for the VII International Liszt Ferenc Competition Malaysia Preliminary Round.
All videos must be in one take with NO editing allowed.
For contestants participating in multiple categories, a video must be prepared for each category participated in (i.e. if you participate two different categories, please submit two videos.)
The music scores of the performance is to be sent to the email: inoteevents@gmail.com (please put the participant name and category)
The camera angle must show the instrument clearly:
For the piano category, the piano keyboard, pedal, hands, and the face of the contestant must be clearly shown
For the strings category, the strings instrument, bow hold, standing/sitting position and the face of the contestant must be clearly shown.
For all categories, the videos must have a resolution of at least 720-1080p and they must be uploaded to YouTube with private link share (unlisted).
All YouTube video titles must include full name of the contestant, category, age and repertoire title. (i.e. Kate John, Children Category A, Age 9, Sonata No. 14 in C# min, “Moonlight”, Op. 27 No. 2, 1st movement.)
